Migration & Calving Safari: Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Ndutu & Southern Serengeti

Migration & Calving Safari: Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Ndutu & Southern Serengeti safari in Tanzania
1 / 1

This 6-day safari is designed for travelers who want to witness the Great Migration during its most dynamic stage – the southern shift. Ideal for late January to March, it gives you front-row access to the wildebeest herds as they move from Ndutu’s calving grounds toward the central and southern plains of the Serengeti. The journey begins with a day in Tarangire National Park, famous for its elephants and giant baobabs, followed by a full day of game driving in the Ngorongoro Crater with the highest concentration of wildlife inside the enclosed caldera. You’ll then spend two nights in the Ndutu region, where scattered acacias, seasonal lakes, and marshy woodlands create a setting for predator action during the calving season. Next, you’ll move into the Southern Serengeti, a less-visited area that comes alive during the migration shift. The landscape here opens into vast short-grass plains, creating contrast to Ndutu’s more varied terrain. With two nights here, you’ll have both the time and flexibility to follow the migration in motion, and to feel the scale of the Serengeti at its wildest.
